Whatever your thoughts are about Kai Cenat, his financial success in the streaming world is undeniable. Top creators across the industry broadly agree: when Kai goes live, he boosts engagement and user activity throughout the digital ecosystem. More than just a solo powerhouse, his collaborative approach serves as a springboard for younger creators, offering them financial exposure and clout through guest appearances at his 5-day institution.

Equal parts Ferris Bueller’s Day Off for content creators, internet lore, and masterclass marketing, Streamer University has officially become a cultural event. And after binge-watching last year’s clips online, I went into SU 2026 with three pressing questions.

Over 1 million creators applied for the Streamer University; roughly 120 aspiring streamers were hand-selected to attend the all-expenses-paid school to learn about streaming.

1#  What major sponsors would get into the action this year? I was surprised to see ESPN and the NBA farming clips from the basketball game and cheer team performances. Zaxby’s, Meta, Red Bull, Shopify, State Farm, Fortnite, YouTube, and others also threw their weight behind the event. Their presence made one thing abundantly clear: digital creator culture is no longer a niche internet phenomenon, but a major cultural powerhouse that legacy networks and global brands can no longer afford to ignore.

Kai Cenat continues to set a high benchmark for the creator economy, with his brand partnerships and sponsorships operating on a completely different level. In a move that highlights his commitment to creative ownership, Kai reportedly turned down major offers from streaming titans Netflix, Tubi, and Amazon Prime to produce a Streamer U reality show. Protecting his original vision speaks volumes, and anticipation is already building for what’s next. With Kai officially announcing that the 2027 iteration of Streamer U is heading to Europe, fans can look forward to the exciting location-based content we will see next year.

2#  Would viewers connect with the new class?  Introducing fresh faces and personalities is always a risk, but it often pays off. At first, I found myself missing the vibe of the original class and how that group bonded. Core fan-favorites like Agent, Tylil, ExtraEmily, Tota, and Reggie were noticeably missed by viewers who continued to follow their journeys for months after the inaugural Streamer University.

While this year’s class felt different at first, it grew on everyone after a few days. In fact, when the alumni returned, it became clear they had somewhat outgrown the dynamic– underscored by their loss to the 2026 class in the basketball game. Still, Yonna, a breakout streamer from last year, fit in perfectly as Kai’s new “Assistant Dean”. Yonna and Wardrobe were two of the fan favs from the 2026 class.

3# What behavior management strategies would be visible for this age group?

Kai threatened some of the students with detentions, campus arrests, and subscription bailouts [as if we expected to see a strict program].

A few creators posted responses to Streamer U this weekend revealing how little they understood what Kai is doing. They perceived the students’ unethical behavior as genuine rather than scripted.

“It’s more like a movie… we’re just trying to provide the best entertainment possible.” –Kai Cenat, 2026

Markell Washington, the 2026 Streamer University Cheer Coach, demonstrated what happens when you set high expectations and provide clear structure with actionable roles. Instructors who know how to build supportive, practice-oriented environments consistently yield positive results. Above all, watching Markell step into the big-brother role was easily my favorite highlight of this year’s activities.

Beyond the high-energy antics, another human element made a lasting impression: cheerleaders Wardrobe and Skai Jackson with their kindness and sensibility.

Overall, Streamer U was a unique mixture of internet chaos and actual classroom substance. Professors Agent, Ludwig, and Cindy Gallup stood out for their steady professionalism and earned widespread praise from the audience of viewers.

The Obama Center’s exhibits are interactive by design. The layout weaves contemporary art and digital history into a multi-sensory experience.

The center’s 225-foot-tall building is a Histofuturist’s classroom. A Histofuturist is a storyteller who preserves the knowledge of past realities while imagining future ones. Our children, especially, can benefit greatly from experiencing the awe of how learning is made to feel less like a chore and more like discovery.

The center’s Eleanor Roosevelt Fruit and Vegetable Garden is designed to blur the lines between the man-made and natural landscape. This is the Solarpunk lab atmosphere I desired for my high school geometry students. One where students could investigate sustainable architecture through miniature model-building and in-person collaborations with the City Office of Urban Planning.

Makerspaces with Gardens, DJ’s, and Theater

The Obama Center hosts a Hamilton Movie Night where guests can view the filmed Broadway performance under the plaza stars. Garden Gatherings allow visitors to make sun tea, create scent rollers, and share stories at a Sip & Share while enjoying music from DJ Ca$h Era. These curated experiences are built to bring diverse cultures together.

The kicker is that it’s not all just fun and games.

The Urban Growers Collective, a Black- and women-led non-profit, is also involved in building equitable local food systems outside the center’s location.

This groundbreaking space stands as the first fully digital museum of its kind. Bringing history to life through high-tech, sensory, and hands-on exhibits. Visitors can journey through displays highlighting political campaigns, landmark presidential policies, and the daily rhythms of White House life, including a life-sized replica of the Oval Office.

Breaking away from tradition, Obama’s presidential archive is also completely digital. The archive includes photos, records, videos, and a multimedia timeline available for everyone to access.

We Are Not Done

In Obama’s words, “There is more ground to be covered. There are more bridges to be crossed.” The center’s theme of collective intellectual and humanitarian cultivation stands as an exemplar for schools of the future.

For education leaders like Dr. Chris Emdin and the creators of High Tech High, this center represents a shared dream replicated: a learning environment so captivating that students might willingly disconnect from their phones to engage with the world around them. Perhaps the center’s greatest triumph, however, is that the inspiring words on the building’s exterior align with the generational wisdom being passed down through the activities inside.

The words etched on the top of the building are from Obama’s 2015 Selma speech:

“You are America. Unconstrained by habit and convention. Unencumbered by what is, ready to seize what ought to be. For everywhere in this country, there are first steps to be taken, there is new ground to cover, there are more bridges to be crossed. America is not the project of any one person. The single most powerful word in our democracy is the word ‘We.’ ‘We The People.’ ‘We Shall Overcome.’ ‘Yes We Can.’ That word is owned by no one. It belongs to everyone. Oh, what a glorious task we are given to continually try to improve this great nation of ours.”

We are indeed included in Obama’s America. And WE are not done yet.
